Coach Dan currently studies and practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a Black Belt under Master Brad Daddis at Daddis Fight Camps. He is a Snake Pit USA Catch Wrestling Representative Coach under Founder and Head Coach of Snake Pit USA, Joel Bane. He also holds the rank of Judo Black Belt under 2 time National Champion and Olympic Training Center Coach, Sensei John Saylor. A natural leader and competitor, he is the owner and full time instructor at Hammonton, New Jersey’s Razors Edge Mixed Martial Arts.
From age 15 he began to study both Kickboxing and Muay Thai under the direction of Jerry “The Jersey Devil” Smith and Kru Niran Choulalandanna. His love of combat, the respect of the Martial Arts and correct age created the perfect opportunity for Dan to join the United States Army, where he served as an Infantryman for 6 years with highly respected units such as the 101st Airborne and the 82nd Airborne. During his time at the JFK Special Warfare Center he became friendly with a US Army hand to hand combat instructor which sparked his initial interest in militarized close quarters combat.
In 2002 Coach Dan attended the National Institute of Bail Enforcement and returned home to New Jersey. He immediately began work as a fugitive recovery agent (or “bounty hunter” as they are more commonly referred to) for the National Association of Bail Recovery Agents (NABRA) in Philadelphia. After a few short months, a recruitment offer came from a group of agents inside of NABRA know as the Fugitive Task Force, which is assigned to the highest profile cases. These cases include bail skips which are known to become aggressive and confrontational, and are usually previously convicted of felonies or wanted for skipping bail on violent crimes and weapons charges. During this time, lead agents Andre King and Myron Carr took notice in Dan’s ability to subdue aggressive individuals, both armed and unarmed. He was eventually asked to teach his hand to hand methods to the agents of NABRA. Coach Dan is now the full time Self Defense and Combative Tactics Instructor for the Hammonton Police Department.
In 2003, Coach Dan met his current instructor Master Brad Daddis. Since that initial meeting, Brad has become a great mentor and friend. During his time he has traveled and competed in numerous grappling tournaments, both BJJ and Judo all over the United States. Coach Dan also had the pleasure of training several years under Muay Thai World Champion, Coban “The Cruncher” Lookchaomaesaitong.
The field of Martial Arts and Self Defense isn’t Coach Dan’s only area of expertise. He holds many certifications under the IFPA including Certified Personal Trainer, Sports Nutrition Specialist, Functional Trainer and Strength Coach to name a few. He is Safe Sport certified through Team USA and has been helping people achieve their Health and Fitness goals for over 20 years.
