Be sure to tune in to Fox Sports 1 for Wilson’s UFC debut! Wilson currently holds a Mixed Martial Arts professional record of 18-4-0 and is looking to improve his record with a win tonight over Ivan Menjivar.
Ivan Menjivar is currently ranked Number 10 in the UFC’s bantamweight division while Wilson Reis winner of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Championships, makes his very first appearance in the UFC after a long stint in Bellator Fighting Championships. Reis is a replacement for Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto who was forced to pull out of the fight due to a training injury.
Reis, an Ultimate Fighter Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach for Team Dominik Cruz is currently riding a four-fight win streak, with three of the wins coming by way of submission. Reis last fought in December 2012 when he submitted Owen Roddy via Rear-Naked Choke in the third round at Cage Warriors 50 in Scotland. Some of Wilson’s more notable wins have been over the likes of Zach Makovsky (ShoXC), Bryan Caraway (EliteXC), Abel Cullum (ShoXC) and Deividas Taurosevicius (Bellator).
Menjivar is 4-3 inside the UFC Octagon, with his debut taking place way back at UFC 48 in 2004 where he dropped a unanimous decision to former welterweight champ Matt Serra. Following that Menjivar fought on smaller shows around the world until he made his UFC return in April 2011 with a first round TKO win over Charlie Valencia. He went on to rack up wins over Nick Pace and John Albert before dropping a decision to Mike Easton in July 2012.
This is going to be a very exciting fight as both Wilson and Ivan are super explosive and have cardiovascular energy for days. Enjoy the fights everyone!
